The cache is located at the northern end of Pratt Lake in the Mt.
Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. From the Pratt Lake trail head
(N47 23.871 W121 29.192), it's a little over 5.5 miles each way
with a cumulative elevation gain of 3,400 feet. The trail is your
typical Northwest forest trail with some rocky stretches as one
descends into the Pratt Lake basin. A Northwest Forest Pass is
required.
The trail to Pratt Lake climbs through a hemlock and fir forest
with nice views over Olallie Lake along the way. This is a good
day-trip, but there is camping at the northern end of the lake for
those who would like to take more than one day. If you have the
energy, continue on for a half a mile to Lower Tuscohatchie Lake
and enjoy another terrific lake with more great views.
The cache is a small lock-n-lock hidden a little way from the
lake in a common geocaching location. A spoiler photo has been
included.
WARNING: Cache seekers assume all risks,
responsibilities, and mental condition involved in seeking this and
any cache. Make sure you are prepared (ie bring a buddy and the
10
essentials) and that your skill level matches your
ambition. |
