Geocache Description:

This cache is intended to bring attention to a small memorial located at the northwest corner of the Clayton Scott Airport, otherwise known as the Renton Municipal Airport.

This easy two stage multi cache will start at the coordinates above, a small plaque, located at the Will Rogers and Wiley Post Memorial seaplane base located at the south end of lake Washington. You may park in the small parking lot located at the north end of West Perimeter road. There is easy access off Rainer Avenue at the north end of the airport.

To find the cache you must go to the coordinates and read the plaque.

Subtract 1,825 from the year that the Oklahomans made their last take off from the United States on their ill fated flight to encircle the globe.

Using the built in compass of this memorial and the number that you derived from above, take up a heading of 225º and walk off the number in feet (not paces) to locate the cache.

The "new" cache is small so be sure to bring your own pencil or pen and it will NOT accommodate small items. Original contents included logbook, Travel Bug starter tags, compass key chain, a carabineer, and our newest TB, There and Back Again.

Now go watch the seaplanes and if we’re coming or going from a flight, we’ll keep our eyes open for you.
