Geocache Description:

A **FREE** Christmas-themed Geocaching event for all local and visiting Geocachers! No way! Way! No sleigh! Sleigh! We have rented the CNIB community space at 15 Colonel Baker Place NE, which is kinda near the Zoo, if you like. The event runs from 2pm to 4pm.

This is a family event and all Geocachers, young, old, big, small, and even wrinkled and ancient are welcome to attend. There is no attendance fee but we ask you to bring your giggly-self and be prepared to have fun! No way! Way! No hey! Hey!
If you wish, you may bring a non-perishable item for the Veteran’s Food bank.

The event is full of festive spirit, fun and games, there will be prizes and food and lots more details coming your way via this cache listing and the local Calgary Area Cachers forums which can be found if you click on the CAC logo at the bottom of this page. No way! Way! No segue! Segue!

We really look forward to seeing you for some or all of the event and we know that you will leave more filled with Christmas cheer than when you arrived! No way! Way! No play! Play!

Two years ago, at the last family-friendly local Christmas Party (organized by SWx4) there was a very popular silent auction. We'd like to repeat that fun activity, and like our predecessor the proceeds will be donated to a local charity (more about this later). Everyone loves a good silent auction, you get the excitement of picking out some favourites, placing your bid, anxiously watching to see if you are outbid, and perhaps get to take home an awesome new treasure! But good silent auctions need good lots, so we are turning to you, now, to help us out. Can you contribute something? We'll accept anything - it might be an old collectible from your attic, something newly bought from a store that has great appeal, or even something handmade. Whatever it is, make sure it is suitable for a family-friendly event and in good condition (no-one wants to take home something that is ready for the trash!). As always, please attach your name to the item (removable label or sticky note etc.) so we can recognise all those who contributed.

**UPDATE!!!**
We have received some excellent silent auction items already but would like more! Proceeds from the Silent Auction will go to the Poppy Fund! There is no website for the Poppy Fund but you can learn more if you click here. The Poppy Fund was created "To assist needy veterans, their widows and dependents with medical, shelter, food and dental care.".

And in addition, we are looking for door prizes and game/contest prizes! (I know! We are so needy! Gosh!) But let's return to the important matters. Can you help?!
We are looking for kind donations of any kind that we can make into a prize - we'd like 8 more prizes if possible - and we'll give credit to all those that donate. Please email us or post on the cache page if you can help us out. Thanks ever so much!

**UPDATE!!!**
We will be keeping the edibles to simple finger food snacks that all can nibble on easily without ruining appettites for evening meals (!). With that in mind, we have already secured some great donations and now have some gaps that need to be filled.
This is what we are still looking for:
Juices/Pop/Water

**UPDATE!!**
Gifted with the glue gun? A wizard with webbing? A snizzle with the scissors? Crafty with card? Does glitter glue ooze out of your pores? Yes?! Yes??!!! YES!!!! <<br>
We have a contest for you!
Design and build a Geocaching-themed Christmas Tree ornament and bring it with you to the event.
All submitted ornaments will be hung on a Christmas Tree and all event attendees will vote for the most whimsical/creative/funny one. Results will be announced at 3:00pm. The winner will receive a nice prize!
Get crafting!

More information on the games, contests and challenges will be coming soon!!

**UPDATE!!**
The NEW CAC decal combo packs will be available for the first time at this event!!

**UPDATE!!**
We've had a good load of great prizes and food donations! Thanks folks! All we're rerally in need of now is drinks - juices, pops, water etc. We've got hot chocolate taken care of, and we have no alcohol licence, so it's reall just a few flats of soft drinks that will wrap this up. Can you help us?

**UPDATE!!**
Here are some details of some of the games we have planned:
A Silent Auction - bidding closes at 3:30pm
Christmas Carol contest (no singing allowed (or aloud!)
The-Get-Santa-To-Take-The-Travel-Bug-On-His-Sleigh-Game (cough!)
Geocaching-themed Tree Ornament Contest - work on these now and bring them with you to be judged! Judging at 3:00pm
A Christmas decoration relay race!
An Outdoor Geocaching hunt (who'd have thunk it?!)
A Kids Craft table
Door prizes! Drawn at 3:50pm

Remember, the event start at 2:00pm - no earlier (we've hired three bouncers from WWF Smackdown just to be sure no one tried to sneak in!).
If you're bringing food, please come to the doors at 2:00pm and we'll show you where you can put your stuff.

Thanks folks!!
