We placed this cache near the end of our hike on the Los Conches
Ridge Trail (we went clockwise). There some small trade items, but
you'll need to bring your own pen.
It's called Don't Reach Up, because those sticks above the opening
are PO. There is no need to get even close to them to reach in and
grab the container. The place where you need to stand to reach the
cache is also PO-free.
There is a $5.00 entrance fee. Enter and park in the Spring Valley
area, then follow the trail along the south boundary of the park. We
missed the turnoff to cross Vista Ridge Road the first time we passed
it. The trail is a loop, but has a very steep part that would be a
tricky downhill if you do it counterclockwise. (We placed another
cache near the trail on the west side of the ridge.) The trail was
overgrown but passable when we placed the cache. It might be pretty
dicey in wet weather, and has been closed.
GPS reception was weak. There is a clearing about 40 ft from the
cache where the reception was better.
