****NOTE: Summer of 2012- A lot of ticks being reported on site. CAUTION!********
Cain's Branch runs from neighborhoods north of Chantilly in a SW direction. It cuts across Sully Plantation, through Dulles Airport grounds into Avion Corporate Office park and eventually flows into Cub Run and on to the Occoquan.
In her book "Voices of Chantilly", Margaret Peck talks about finding Indian arrowheads along Cain's Branch. Fairfax County indicates the stretch SW of Sully Plantation was a site of Indian hunting camps 2500-5000 years ago.
Parking is a admittedly a problem- I pulled off onto the gravel off Rt 50. If you do that, pull w-a-a-y off the road. Consider parking in the little strip mall across Rt 50 and crossing Rt 50 WITH THE TRAFFIC LIGHTS. If you park in the corporate office park, some but not all buildings send guards to nicely shoo you away.
Congrats to jeffnerner and MegaWheaties for FTF!
