Geocache Description:

What is CITO?

CITO stands for Cache in Trash Out and is a chance for you to clean up your playing field.

From the Geocaching web site:

Cache In Trash Out is an ongoing environmental initiative supported by the worldwide geocaching community. Since 2002, geocachers around the world have been dedicated to improving parks and other cache-friendly places. Through these volunteer efforts, we help preserve the natural beauty of our outdoor resources!

DATE:

Sunday, 20 April 2014 3:00pm to 4:45pm

MEETING TIME:

3:00pm to pick up rubbish bags, enter contest and coordinate work Zones

MEETING PLACE:

Truck Parking Lot near dead-end of Karoonda road where it connects to old Princess Hwy (the published coordinates)

THE CONTESTS:

Bring your best homemade CITO tool to the published coordinates when you pick up your rubbish bag to enter the contest for the “Best Homemade CITO Tool”

After filling your bags we will choose the "Most Interesting Piece of Rubbish"
Note: This MUST be family-friendly.

Photos of the winners will be posted on the page after the event.

CLEAN-UP ZONES:

See the child waypoints for parking at Zones 2, 3 and 4.  All four zones are linearly spaced along the road and the entire length could be walked in a little over 30 minutes. However, there is a dirt track running parallel to the paved road to provide plenty of parking if you would like to park closer to your work zone.

WHAT TO DO:

After picking up your bags and entering the tool contest, move to your assigned zone and pick up the rubbish. If you find anything interesting (keep it family friendly) save it out to submit as an entry into the "Most Interesting Piece of Rubbish" contest.

MEET AND GREET:

At 4:30pm bring your filled rubbish bags to the published coordinates. We will announce the winners of the “Best Homemade CITO Tool” and "Most Interesting Piece of Rubbish" contests.

WHAT TO BRING:

  • gloves,
  • sunscreen,
  • sensible clothing (long pants and sleeves), hat, proper footwear
  • and water

Important:

If you plan to join us, please post a Will Attend log and add this event to your watchlist so you receive any announcements.

In your log, please let us know whether you have a preference of which zone to clean up.

Inclement Weather:

For geocacher safety, this event will be postponed for 30 minutes if rain is falling.  If after 30 minutes the rain has not stopped, the event will be cancelled.
