THIS IS A NIGHT TIME CACHE ONLY.
The Story:
The Lost Yowie is watching you! "Why?" you ask. Simple. He's LOST.
He cannot find his own way back to his treasure trove these days.
And he needs your help.
A long time ago, before he lost his memory completely, he marked
out a path to his hideout with white and orange fire tacks that he
had collected as treasure. He also hid a spare set of keys along
the way. But now he can't remember where the keys are, and he can't
find them because his torch is broken.
It's a hard life for an old Yowie. Could be that he suffers from
alzheimers, could be global warming or something to do with the
pollutants in the air making his brain fuzzy. Who knows?
All I know, is that he will watch and follow you in the dark as you
locate the fire tacks. So if you hear any strange noises, like
grunting or sticks snapping, don't be too alarmed as Yowies are
fairly shy creatures and won't harm you.
(On the other hand, be very wary about Drop Bears that may
impede your search. They are very territorial and don't like anyone
intruding on their personal space, occassionally dropping from the
tree's onto unsuspecting prey.)
How to help the Yowie:
When you have reached the listed co-ordinates, hold a reasonably
well powered torch at eye level next to your ear and search the
trees and bushes to locate the first fire tack. This one will be
white. Once you are as close as practical to the first fire tack,
you repeat the process to locate the second fire tack. This one
will be an orange one. You continue locating alternating colours
until you find the four fire tacks located together on a branch.
These are fairly close to the last trail fire tack (within 5 meters
and there is nowhere else to go). You will now have reached the
location for the Yowie's spare keys.
Search this area very carefully to locate the keys to the Yowie's
treasure trove. They are VERY CLOSE by. You are looking for two key
tags containing the final co-ordinates for the physical cache.
Please put the keytags back as you found them.
Enter these final co-ordinates into your GPS to locate the cache.
You do not have to walk through the bush to get to final GZ as
there is a road and path available. The cache container is a green
tupperware lunch box with Yowies* as the swap theme.
This should take you less than an hour to complete and you will
walk about 1km (dependant on your search abilities). Wear enclosed
shoes as you are walking through bushland with lots of sticks which
is very muddy when wet. Do not take your car past the original
co-ordinates as any damage to the area will result in this cache
being removed. The terrain is fairly flat with a few slopes. You
start off walking through a bit of undergrowth and may encounter
odds strands of bush, but mostly it is clear and is suitable for
those with even a fairly low level of fitness.
(The trail no longer follows the golf coarse as, even though I
had received permission to put it there, there were still some
people not happy about it, ergo all the reflectors were removed.
Instead, with the same ground zero, it NOW goes in the OPPOSITE
direction. For those who found it before, you are quite welcome to
try this trail as I think it is quite a lot better this time).
*Yowies were a series of Chocolate "eggs" produced several years
ago by Cadbury, similar to Kinder Surprises etc. As far as I know,
Yowies are no longer in production, but any little plastic egg
containing a "surprise toy" will do for a swap if you want to stick
to the theme.
