Geocache Description:

This is the final cache in the San José Public Library series. Congratulations are in order if you have managed to find all of the caches! THE CACHE IS NOT AT THE POSTED COORDINATES (BUT IT IS CLOSE). SEE BELOW FOR MORE INFORMATION.

Please make an attempt to visit this cache on grand opening day, Saturday, August 16. It will be busy, but the visit will be worth it, with plenty of food and family activities. While you're there, please come visit my coworkers and me at the City of San José Call Center booth, and meet our special out-of-town caching visitor, NurseDave.

The collaboration for the new Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library is unique in the United States. It reflects the best of cooperative efforts between a major city and a major university - a collaboration supported by Silicon Valley's innovators and leaders. The new King Library is part of a larger movement to revitalize downtown San José, to give it civic focus and attract new business. It is also part of the greater effort to extend the vast resources located in the city's center to its outlying regions.

Never before have a major city and a metropolitan university combined forces to create and co-manage a learning center that will be shared by students and the community. A powerful partnership. An innovative approach. A role model for the world. The new Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library befits the culture and reputation of Silicon Valley - a culture that thrives on innovation.

San José Public Library enriches lives by fostering lifelong learning and ensuring that every member of the community has access to a vast array of ideas and information. With branch libraries throughout the city (and six new branches planned), the library can provide its many users - San José State students, alumni and the community at large-with convenient access to information near their homes and businesses. The opening of the new Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library means even better access to more information for everyone - 1.3 million volumes with room and resources for growth!

To find the cache, go to the posted coordinates and take the time to look at the new library. Then glance around you and look for a small redwood grove. The redwood tree you see is older than even the first school to occupy this campus, the Normal School for Girls. The cache is located near this tree.

The cache is a regular-sized ammo box filled with various City and County goodies, including book- and library-related items. You are under no obligation to trade similar items, but it would keep the cache within theme.
