Geocache Description:

2nd Annual Cedar Rapids CITO Extravaganza!

PRESENTED BY

AB-n-AP

Welcome to our annual Cedar Rapids Area CITO event: The Cedar Rapids CITO Extravaganza! The plan for this annual event is to change locations each and every year in an effort to keep the event fresh, fun, adventurous, productive, and helpful to Cedar Rapids and the surrounding area.

This year we'll be cleaning the park & road area along the northern side of the Cedar River leading to the Roller Dam. This 1/2 mile section is easy walking for the most part, but there is some slightly rough terrain along the river and in the wooded areas. Just be sure to watch your footing. The garbage and trash is plentiful, so rest assurred that we will have plenty of trash to pick up. :) Please be prepared to walk along a dirt road, into small wooded areas, and along the bank of the river.

Heavy duty trash bags will be supplied and the city will take care of garbage pick-up once we're finished. All you need to bring is yourself and the desire to help pick up litter along a small area of our cache-friendly city. A bunch of trash accumulates in this remote area due to illegal dumping, so a lot of garbage bags will be filled! Let's help keep Cedar Rapids and the surrounding area clean for future geocaching and take this opportunity to say "thank you" to the Cedar Rapids Parks Department for their continuous support of geocaching.

Everyone is welcome to attend the 2nd Annual Cedar Rapids CITO Extravaganza!

Please join us at 1:00PM on Sunday April 20th, 2008 at the picnic table located at the parking coordinates you see at the top of this page. Please arrive between 12:45PM - 1:15PM to sign the log book and receive garbage bags. The log book will be available at all times, so make sure you sign it (this is a geocache afterall) to be eligable for prizes at the end. The entire event is planned to run 1:00PM - 4:00PM, but could end slightly sooner or later depending on how fast we clean the area. The ground is both level and unlevel mostly consisting of dirt, grass, twigs, logs, rocks, downed trees, etc. Please bring your own water for the duration of the event. Latex gloves will be provided, but we encourage you to bring your own heavy duty work gloves if you have them.

After the event we will award prizes and to be eligible you must sign the log book. There will be plenty of prizes so be sure to stick around for the conclusion of the event. Please continue to check this event webpage as we continue to update the list of prizes.
