Geocache Description:

This cache is on church property and is placed with the permission of the church Trustees.

It is a cache in two parts. The coordinates take you to a plaque that will be used to find the coordinates of the main cache. The best time to go here is noon, as you will get the maximum performance of this historic treasure of the community. If you can’t do that, listen on the hour and every fifteen minutes thereafter, from 8:45 am to 8:30 pm, to hear this set of chimes cast in Troy, NY in 1928.(It chimes on the hour 24 hours a day) The hour bell was cast in 1923, and the clock was installed that same year. Also take time to read the plaques.

As you read the plaques you will find one that may make you think of the creatures that are said to live in belfries. At the bottom of this plaque is a date. In order to use this date you will need to brush up on your Roman numerals. The last three Roman numerals will be used to complete the coordinates you will need to find the main cache. Start with latitude N43.03.0xx. To get the last two digits subtract 41 from the last three Roman numerals. Now start with longitude W74.20.xxx. To get the last three digits add 524 to the last three Roman numerals. You now have your new coordinates. When you are close to the buildings you will lose some satelites on your GPSr, so the readings may be iffy. It will be easy to get to the cache until the snow flies. After that you may have to take a short walking detour to get the main.

The cache has a log book only so take a pen or pencil to log your visit.
