Geocache Description:

Small cache, log and pencil, no items.

Evesham Twp. was settled in the 1600's, and several old farmsteads have been preserved- this is one of them. The house was originally built in 1725, burned down in 1770, and was rebuilt in 1771. The land was held by the Inskeeps, or their descendents, for over 200 years. The house was scheduled for demolition, but was acquired by the Evesham Historical Society in 1988, and remains a restoration work in progress.
Nearby, at N39 54.187 W074 54.996 is a plaque describing the site of the Higginbotham Farmstead, which has recently been turned into a housing development. On that site 10,000 year-old artifacts were found while doing an archeological survey, indicating that the immediate area, including the Inskeep Farm, had been used extensively by the Leni Lenape Indians, as well as prehistoric Native Americans. It was farmed until several years ago by the Higginbotham Family.
