Interested in the Geocaching eco-sport but need some direction to get started? With a GPS receiver and Internet access, you are ready to explore and hunt for a "geocache". You will enjoy the thrill of the hunt but the real discovery is the countless locations of natural beauty and historical interest you will find that you never knew existed. Take the Challenge!
This program will be held Sunday, March 6th, 12PM - 5PM, near the gatewell on Harriet Island. For those who haven't been here, it's a beautiful park, with trail connections, river walk, rock garden, public dock and playground. Currently there are 10 caches in the park and surrounding area.
The closest parking to the Event site, is on West Water Street.
This would be convenient if you plan to drive to the Lilydale caches.
The program is scheduled to start near the gatewell at 12 PM. We will have sample caches, contents, log books, etc, on display. After the session, we will break up into small groups to learn about using a GPSr for geocaching, locating caches, and other related questions. Copies of the nearby area cache pages will be available to obtain waypoints. This session is scheduled to be finished by 5PM, but individual scheduling is flexible and encouraged.
Mark your calendar for March 6th and plan on attending.
If you know anyone who has an interest in learning about geocaching
or received a GPSr over Christmas, be sure to tell them about this event.
Please leave a *note* on the cache page if you plan to attend.
