Geocache Description:

This is my first traditional cache placed. I figured that since I would be on the lake today, I might as well place a hard-to-reach cache.

The cache is located at an old pump house on the remains of Garza Dam. The dam was completed in 1927 and formed Lake Dallas, which served as the principal water source for the city of Dallas with 194,000 acre-feet of capacity.

As Dallas expanded, the need for a larger municipal water source became clear. Construction on the Lewisville Dam began in 1948 and was completed in 1955. The Garza Dam was breached in 1957 which created Lewisville Lake, a water source for Dallas and its suburbs with a capacity of 436,000 acre-feet.

The cache is an ammo can that I won at the Easter Egg-stravaganza Event a few months ago. It contains a log sheet, pencil, my first geocoin that I am setting loose, and a toy for FTF.

It is not necessary to go inside the building, although as I now look at pictures of it posted online, that would have been a really cool idea.
