Geocache Description:

3.45 mile hike into the Strawberry Wilderness area.

UPDATE 6/17/2017
Updated the coords based on feedback.
Hope to do some maintenance on this site. It could really use a new lid. Maybe a new baggie for the log book as well. Would appreciate anyone heading that way to bring one. Or a new container if so inclined. See pics of standard coffee can in 8/3/13 log entry. My old legs may not make the next trip. We shall see.

UPDATE 8/15/2006 Cache is still there.

Please note that the cache is NOT on the west side of the top, and is NOT in a dangerous location. It is just hard to find unless you have the clue or a GPS unit that is stabilized for at least 30mins for a more accurate reading.

Two Ways one Easy one Not so Easy.

Trail Head is near the End of Forest Service 1640. From Seneca take Road 16 East to 1640 Road to High Lake.
Trail Head is 1/4mile before High Lake Parking lot.
The trail is suitable for most folks who are used to normal back country hiking trails.

Side Trip:
Go .2 miles hang a right for 200ft and check the view. Watch for cliffs. Then after .9 miles hang another right for 300ft to check out a NEW view.

The first 2.25 miles are fairly even with minor elevation changes. The last mile will require some work, the trail is well defined. Once you reach the top the view is awesome. Cache is in a small blue can, with a plastic lid. Total.. 3.4 miles with 1390ft elevation change.

Hard Way.
Take 60 road south from Prairie City to Trail Head at Strawberry Lake Campground. Hike 5.2 miles with 3435 feet of elevation climb. Has a great waterfall on the way. And you can take a side trip to Little Strawberry Lake.

NOTE:On failure to find cache. Cache is not in an area that makes it a danger to get to. It is hidden fairly well.
The hint should be taken along. This should make it really easy to find it, after all it is a long hike and worth the trip.
