Geocache Description:

Remember math story problems? Figure out these six problems to find this cache. NOTE: The listed coordinates are not where the cache is, that location is just a random spot in Torrance, CA. While the cache is in the city of Torrance, it is not really near this spot. UPDATE: 9/19/04 - Thanks to the hard work of NEKKAR This cache is back in service!

Find the answers to the following six problems. Use the answers as follows:

A Degrees B.C Minutes North
D Degrees E.F Minutes West

This will give you the location of the cache. Some answers will not be exact integers. Please round accordingly so that you have an integer for each of the six answers.

A. To fix a Vacuum cleaner, Vacman has to replace a belt that is a perfect circle. He knows that the belt will be 10 ½ inches straight across at any given point. What is the total length of the belt he will need?

B. Minglis puts $1000 into an interest bearing account that pays 7% per year, compounded monthly. How many months will it take before Minglis has accumulated a total of $322.05 of interest?

C. Escout needs to tile an odd shaped room. The room is 27.7 feet wide at one end and narrows down at an even rate on both sides to the other end of the room where it is 17.5 feet wide. The total length of the room is 40 feet. How many square feet is this room?

D. Astroaffe and Nekkar start at the exact same spot. Astroaffe walks 70 feet due North. Nekkar walks 95 feet due West. How many feet are they apart once they each complete their walks?

E. Snowland has been given the job of painting a building that is in the shape known as an Icosikaidigon. How many sides are there to this building?

F. 4ordlow leaves Chicago on a train bound for Dallas at noon. The train travels at a constant rate of 57 miles per hour. After going a total distance of 582.35 miles, it suddenly comes to a complete stop. How long, in minutes, did the train run before it stopped?

Good luck! The cache is now log only. Please bring a writing instrument.

NOTE: THE PICTURE IN THE GALLERY IS OF THE OLD CACHE CONTAINER. THE NEW CACHE CONTAINER DOESN'T RESEMBLE ANYTHING LIKE THAT.
