How Geocaching Works
Park in Spillville with play ground equipment, campground and the famous Inwood ballroom.
The first stage coordinates bring you to the front gate of Riverside Park (gate will be closed off season, but entrance is still permissible). At the gate you will see a sign with information about the park. Part of that info will be the year that the Ballroom was opened. The year in letters is ABCD.
For North coordinates take ABC plus 799 = N 43 11.ABC
West coordinates take BCD minus 68 = W 091 56.BCD
These final coordinates will take you to the cache and some history of the park. Famous composer Anton Dvorak lived in this little town and composed the music you will see surrounding area of GZ.
Many found the love of their lives dancing the night away at the historic Inwood Ballroom. If this is part of your history feel free to add that in your log post. Mother nature has tried to close the ballroom twice when the Turkey River which runs behind the ballroom breached her banks and flooded the area with over five feet of water. Imagine wading in to find the cache with water up to your chest and having to use a life vest! But the will of the people of this small town and surrounding area came to the rescue. Many hours of manpower sandbagging, cleaning, raking and shoveling sand has brought this building back to life! Congratulations ISUCyclone on FTF! (Our daughter and son-in-law graduated from ISU :-)
