Paia Bunker View Traditional Cache
Minnesota Dave: I looked around for a person to adopt this one, but I found that most of the caches in Maui seem to be hidden by Californians, and even the ones hidden by Maui residents have not all been maintained all that well. So I'll let this one go.... also if it was plundered once it probably would be again. Sounds like locals are overrunning this area more than ever.

The cache was hidden at the base of a tree near a picnic table, under some pine needles. (inland side of tree). Unfortunately it was plundered. Since I am off-island I invite anyone going thru this area to replace the cache with another micro of any sort. This is an interesting spot so it would be nice to still have one here. Thanks!
This cache gives you a view of a seaside bunker near Paia Beach. This and other bunkers were set up around World War II. There are other bunkers along the coast but many of them have been worn out by the elements.
From the cache site, Paia beach is to the east, and beware that a beach that is sometimes nudist is just to the west! The cache is the size of a SPAM can, so you can bring an item to trade. Be sure to look in both directions when searching and rehiding. People often walk up and down this beach trail.
