Geocache Description:

This is a darkness only cache. The nature of the cache hunt is set up so that the clues work in the darkness. Time your hunt so you enter the trail AFTER dark. Bring a strong flashlight with good batteries. Most of the trail is flat and wide, but near the end you will need to watch your step, the walk gets trickier.

The coordinates above are for the access point of the trail. Please enter at this point. I am certain you could find another access point, but this is the point created for public access, therefore this is the one we should use. This access point is a set of steps. You will descend these steps to begin your hunt. Take care at this point. Even though I consider it safe, I could foresee someone stepping off the edge and dropping 10 feet by not paying attention. Have fun and play safe.

Also, because this hunt is at night, play safe and share the fun with some geocaching friends. This would be a great hunt for a group of 3 or 4 people.

Your flashlight will make a big difference! Kind of reverse camo in the dark.

Is it possible to do this hunt during the day? Possibly, though it was set up with darkness in mind and you will miss both the fun and point of the cache. I suggest you stick with darkness and hunt with friends. It's a great cache to do during the week when you normally can't get out because it get's dark on you before you can go caching.

The container is relatively small, so large items won't fit.

Your first clue is at:
N 35 07.865 / W 080 42.251

Do not hunt this like a traditional cache. The method to success lies in your flashlight which will see clues long before you can. In other words, if you are beating around through the bushes looking for something you are going about it the wrong way. The clues are set so that your flashlight will pick them up from a distance, some as much as 50 yards or more! So before you get close, shine the light all around and look for your light to show you the way.

The beaver tree photos are for historical purposes only. Any photo more than 5 years old is going to be of zero use when hunting for a cache.

Disclaimer: Hiking through forests is not for everyone, even during the day. Darkness makes this activity even more challenging and possibly hazardous to certain individuals. Though we consider this a safe and fun activity, please use common sense when geocaching and make sure you are very aware of what you are doing after dark. In the words of Penn and Teller: It's only fun, if there is no permanent damage when you are done.
