Chiatura is an industrial town where especially manganese is mined. To shorten the ways for the workers and increase efficiency a lot of ropeways were built in the 1950s. The cable cars are in original condition and a few of them are still in operation. They are still used by the locals to get from the city centre in the valley up to their flats in the hills. Its a very nice experience to use the ropeways and get in an 60 year old soviet cable car up and down the hills.
The cache is located inside an old unused ropeway station. Dont be afraid to enter it, although its condition is not the best, just keep caution. As there are some blocks of flats closeby, for example try to pretend just visiting this old station and making pictures...
