Sons of Blunoz's Kids' Cache Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

jeffnerner: It was our pleasure to adopt this cache from Blunoz and to have kept it up for 7 years. The neighborhood kids and the swampy location made maintaining this cache a challenge over the years and we're ready to cash in. Thanks to all of the cache finders and thanks for the fun! :)

Geocache Description:

REVISED COORDINATES ON 30 August 2009
Medium-sized tupperware container spray-painted with brown camo paint (larger than a sandwich container / smaller than an ammo can), hidden not far from a large playground in Trailside Park.

UPDATE 02 JULY 2006: Since we hid this in the winter, we weren't sure how accessible it would be in the summer time or if it'd be coverd up by growth in the spring. I'm happy to report that this cache is still very accessible and kid friendly in the summer time. The leaves on the bushes near the playground help provide visual cover from muggles on the playground, but the shade under the tree canopy prevents any significant ground cover from growing. My boys (2 and 5 years old) followed me in to the cache and back out again today, walking mostly on dead leaves under the canopy. So happy caching!

Ever since our first cache find at Coach Jack's Kid's Cache a little ways up the W&OD trail, my (then) 4 year old son has been wanting to hide another kids' cache with toys in it. We thought next to this playground would be a good spot.

We didn't want muggles to observe those retrieving the cache, so we went a little ways into the trees next to the playground, but the ground was flat and not overgrown. We may have to reevaluate that in the spring when things start growing and move it closer to the playground. As for now, it was an easy walk for my son and I across the snow to place this cache.

We recommend going INTO the playground from the parking lot and then turning left to exit the playground heading west. That will avoid the area immediately southwest of the playground that is a little overgrown.

Beware: There IS poison ivy(click for picture) climbing up a couple of the trees in this area. It is not in close proximity to the cache, but if you have small children, be careful where they walk and what they touch.

Garmin GPS 12XL EPE was +/-15 feet in the trees where we placed this.
