There have been Geocaching Flash Mobs in the area but this is the first Trash Mob. Like a Flash Mob there is a limited time to participate in this activity. Show up at 11:00, coordinate where you're going to work and then be back by 12:30 with your trash, sign the log book and join the group photo. Bring gloves, bags, tools and drinking water. There's plenty of trash out there for us all.
The City of Kamloops has again given us a 'free tipping waiver' but have asked:
Please have your clean up crew separate any of the following materials from the clean up so they can be recycled at the landfill, as we will not waive tipping fees to dump recyclables. All these materials can all come to the landfill, they just need to be dropped off at the Diversion Area.
- Paint, aerosols, solvents or gasoline (empty or full containers)
- Metal
- Cardboard, paper and plastic
- Propane tanks
- Batteries
- Light bulbs
- Small appliances and electronics (anything with a cord basically)
- Tires on and off rim
In addition, we are separating concrete, wood, drywall and bulky items (couches/mattresses etc.), so just a heads up that these streams of waste will be expected to go in their appropriate locations in the landfill as well. Let your crew know not to hesitate to ask any of the staff about where things go as there have been some changes at the landfill in 2015 .
Containers will be available to seperate materials into. I have a van but would appreciate help from someone with a pickup.
