3 Lakes Multi-cache

skyraider: I hiked back in the gamelands to repair stage 3 and found the area all tore up by loggers. There are mud ruts over a foot deep. I can't believe they have made such a mess out of some great hiking terrain.

I have decided to archive this well liked cache. Nobody would enjoy having to try to navigate through this ugly mess. Thanks to everyone that enjoyed it and gave the favorite points.

Geocache Description:

Located in the PA State Gamelands. For seasoned hikers only.

This cache is for the more adventurous type of cacher. Be prepared for a serious hike with some bushwacking required. You might choose to not do it all in one day. There are 3 lakes which you will visit. I have been told by the locals that there are some mighty big bass in these lakes. At the third lake, you will find the coordinates for the final which will be at a surprising location. It will be over 4 miles for the journey. This area is heavily hunted, so make sure you take proper precautions. This area is reclaimed strip mines.

There is plenty of hunting at certain times of the year, so be very careful about wearing the required 250 square inches of blaze orange during those times. Please check the Pennsylvania hunting schedule to find out if there will be any hunting activity going on, It can be found at (visit link)

Note: This cache is located on Pennsylvania State Gamelands. Please familiarize yourself with all of Pennsylvania's hunting seasons and their respective regulations. During the peak deer season (November 15 - December 15, except Sundays), you must "wear a minimum of 250 square inches of daylight fluorescent orange-colored material on the head, chest and back combined or, in lieu thereof, a hat of the same colored material. The material shall be worn so it is visible in a 360° arc".



If you are tired of driving around looking for the correct guardrail to reach into and grab the film canister, this cache is for you. But, I have included an optional guardrail stage between lake 2 and lake 3 if you feel the urge. It contains some "Where's George" dollar bills. No need to leave anything. Just take one and let me know when it gets low. A wise cacher will pass this guardrail 2 times while doing his/her hike.

Please remember these things:

1. This is a serious hike. Be prepared for anything.
2. Allow yourself plenty of daylight. Don't get caught in the dark.
3. If you get lost, head South. That will take you to a major highway.
4. A topo map will be your friend.
5. Take plenty of hydration.
6. Bring extra batteries.
7. I suggest hiking with a buddy.
8. If you decide to park along the highway, remember the PA law states that you must be at least 10 feet from the pavement or you may be ticketed and/or towed.
