Geocache Description:

It is a wise man who does this once. A fool does it twice. But if you enjoy the challenge, take your friend for the other trips.

It is a wise man who does this once. A fool does it twice. This is the saying that the Japanese have for this hike. It is very popular and best hiked up at night. Once up on top, take a hike around and enjoy the views. Be sure to take a good look so that you can answer the questions. To get credit for this virtual geocache you will need to answer the following two questions.

1. Once at the coordinates, what can be seen in the direction of about 259 degrees true and 0.6km away? What is the landmark, you will need to be specific to get true credit?

2. Now looking almost in the opposite direction at 68 degrees true, what is off in the distance a hundred kilometers away?

3. For extra credit, and using true navigation skills, what is the building at 70.235 degrees from North and 100.06km from the Geocache location? You will have to do some real "planar" navigation work to get this waypoint. Hint: It is not the Palace. Post your resulting coordinates in your message to me.

Due to the challenge of answering the questions I upped the difficulty up a bit. Starting 2017 Nov 01, do post a picture of yourself at the top. This is to ensure folks do not try and just answer the questions. Posts without pictures will be deleted.

2005 Oct 17 - updated ratings based on new system.
2006 Sept 01 - since question 3 has been difficult, I re-checked my method and decided to note that one should use the planar system instead of the spherical. Thus one can use basic trigonometry to determine the waypoint data for the third question, and then go to that location for the claim. Undoubtedly it will probably take at least two days to claim all three answers.
2006 Dec 14 - tweaked some wording to make things a bit clearer.
2008 Aug 15 - Updated one of the hints.
2016 Apr 07 - Removed reference to "Top of the Mount" cache since several others cropped up since placing this. 2017 Oct 26 - Added requirement to post picture at the top.
2019 Aug 13 - Updated the attributes for the cache. Yes, there is actually a restaurant at the top that is seasonally open. I could add hotels as well.
2023 Sep 06 - Since many have been getting question 3 incorrect, I request that the coordinates be sent as well.
