From one veteran to another...at the Nehalem Veteran's Memorial; this one's for Team Winnienpoo with thanks.
Nehalem is located in Tillamook County south of Manzanita. The Nehalem River and its bay is popular for kayakers, fishermen (salmon & steelhead), clammers and crabbers. Antique shops and specialty stores lend a special uniqueness to this picturesque community. The Nehalem Bay State Park is a good spot to camp, take a walk on the beach or ride Horses.
This community was named for the Nehalem Indian Tribe.
We have passed through here multiple times on our way south, and have, I am sorry to say, only just noticed what an attractive small town this is, and how much fun to walk through and poke into the shops.
So, now that you are here, enjoy the view, have a picnic, stretch your legs, let the dogs do what the dogs do (but clean it up). Then focus on the plantings in the middle of the park. Oh, and you will be looking for a small bison tube- about the size of a small chapstick!
