I am going to archive this cache because it is missing for the third time! First it got flooded out and then after I changed the method of the hide, it got muggled twice!! Dang! dang! dang!!!.

Geocache Description:

Cache is in a public use area that will most likely get a lot of visitors as the weather heats up. It's off trail so total stealth is probably not as necessary. Please replace EXACTLY as you find it. If you want to trade bring small items(buttons, beads, coins) The cache is in a DECON container. Also, if you bring your canine pal, remember that leashes are required and the volunteers who work the area have been known to hand out fines!

This is the seventeenth cache in a series of caches I am loosely basing on the JRR Tolkien book "The Hobbit" AKA "There And Back Again"
Each Cache in this series will contain a clue that will be necessary to have in order to find a future cache. (designated by a multi-cache icon) It will be beneficial to write down each clue as you find the cache and keep it for future use. I hope to avoid patterns which will make future caches predictable. As all caches are found (not necessarily in order) the clues in them will ultimately lead to a final cache. Remember the placement of these caches is based on my intrepretation of the book -and having to work within the limitations and my knowledge of the local area. I will give a general clue for each cache based on the story.

Bilbo, Gandalf, the Men, Elves and the Dwarves have joined in a great battle against the Goblins and the Wargs...it's not going well for our heroes when Bilbo begins to shout "the Eagles are coming!--The Eagles are coming!" and then all goes dark for poor Bilbo...

I have chosen this area because I have seen Bald Eagles feeding across the river on the bank and know that many also nest nearby.
