You are looking for a camoed peanut butter jar hidden back behind
the old Tumble Inn. The Tumble Inn was built in the 1920's as a gas
station and lodging for weary drivers on the Ridge Route traveling
between Los Angeles and all points north. The buildings, which are
now gone, were built above stone retaining walls that are still in
place. If you look on one of the steps leading to the cache site
you will see the words "Tumble Inn" etched in concrete.
Across from the old Inn is a stone and concrete historical
marker that was placed by Harrison Irving Scott, author of "Ridge
Route: The Road That United California". This marker gives the
visitor a good image of what the Inn looked like in its glory
days.
Parking is available off the road by the stone walls, but for
4x4s there is a heavily rutted dirt road that passes behind the Inn
site near the cache.
This is my 50th hide. Please enjoy!
