Geocache Description:

Circular walk of about 15 minutes on established path. Can be very busy with muggles so pick your moment carefully.

Start and park at N 55 58.355 W 004 19.805 This is the Craigend Visitor Centre car park. The visitor centre is actually a Victorian coach house and stables, built in about 1820, this stunning building was used for filming during Taggart episode 3, Knife Edge. This is where DS Livingston was surrounded by the rowdy biker gang, then of course, the famous kiss.
At the time of filming the building was derelict but still in reasonable condition, it has since been restored to it's former glory and now houses a small theatre, cafe, gift shop etc.
Exit through rear entrance of stables quadrangle, bear right past the play area. Once a zoo little remains, (visit link) all that remains is the occasional piece of concrete floor and some man made alterations to the low rockface behind.
Craigend Castle will now appear ahead, N 55 58.215 W 004 19.975 Unfortunately this once striking building has been ravaged by fire.
Follow path round right side of castle and bear left uphill, on your left shortly was the lion enclosure cut in to the rockface, the cache GZ and a very fine example of a haha are nearby. Can be very muggle busy at weekends in fine weather.
After finding hide continue on this path which returns you to the Visitor Centre.
