Cheetham Close is the site of a bronze age stone circle and ring
cairn, although much of it was apparently destroyed by a local
farmer in the 1870s to leave the few remains you can see today. The
cache can be found a short distance away by a more modern dry stone
wall. On a clear day there are extensive views in all directions
from the nearby trig point.
There are many paths to the cache site, however I parked on Greens
Arms Road at N 53° 38.862 W 002° 25.657, which is about 0.6 miles
from the cache and a nice steady climb up. Start by following the
path due South, rather than the private road to Clough House Farm.
A few muddy sections but generally quite firm.
Please note that you only need to move one
stone that is leaning against the base of the wall to find the
cache, and do not need to dismantle the actual wall in any way -
see spoiler picture if you are unsure.
