Geocache Description:

For optimum enjoyment, recommend continuing on to this cache after discovering cache "Pass Bypass".

This location is in north Deception Pass State Park and was the site of an early homestead on Fidalgo Island. (Purchased by the state in 1979, these most recent parcels do not yet show as state park land on some maps). Remaining evidence of the homestead includes the old orchard (still producing a variety of fruit each year), old rock walls for terracing, remnants of old cedar fencing, etc.

A great new trail has been developed, and was commemorated in early 2005, connecting Pass Lake to this area (see local newspaper article describing this " Hike of The Week").
