The House Where Nobody Lives
Nothing left of the house but the stones from the foundation, the
big shady tree, and daffodils that come up in the spring. Years ago
seeing the flowers in the middle of the woods led me to the remains
of this homestead. The house was gone before Lake Monroe was
completed in 1962. I don't know any more background on this site,
so if anyone knows please post the history. I'm sure there's a
story that goes with this spot. There's a mini "false cache" that
you should find easily, the actual cache is more down to earth. Use
reasonable caution (as always) and watch your step! This one has
the usual log book, pencils, sharpener, and camera. Please log your
vist and take a picture. There's some trade stuff appropriate for
an abandoned house. Please re-set the actual cache where you found
it. And look out for MICE!
(Note: "False Cache" is very close... and still not found as of
4/21/08... its small, but has a prize and a log!)

January 30 by Hippo Hunters (268 found) We found the false cache first. The beech tree is quite majestic. This cache reminded me about a funny Simpsons episode; back in the good old day when Bart, rather than Homer, was the star of the show. I was afraid I'd drop the cache while extracting it from its hiding place. Slowly but surely we got the cache and a nice surprise. Another awesome MCA cache! Thanks![This entry was edited by Hippo Hunters on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at 4:07:32 PM.]

October 31, 2009 by DocW (5102 found) My last day for this trip in the US I fully dedicated to Geocaching. Right started at dawning of the day on this peninsula and did all 18 or 19 traditional caches in one go. Yes go, I walked all the way, it was something of 8-10 miles in total and I was back in the car roughly after 4 hours. Yess, this is what geocaching is all about, nice hiking, some bushwhacking and no one around. Thanks for placing this cache and best regards, DocW from Germany
