Crochet Lady’s best friend in Kindergarten was Cindy Lou Birdsill. We went to school and church together. Her mother was my Sunday school teacher, and they picked me up every week. We had fun playing around in the Imperial Sand Dunes, where she lived. I loved running around and playing in the dunes. The highway ran right by their place. They had a nice, big house out away from all the hustle and bustle of the city. Then, the highway department decided to build a new, divided road on either side of the property. They had to move. In the summer of ’60, they moved out and I never saw Cindy again.
They tore down her big, beautiful house and made a rest stop out of the property. The cache is hidden in an ammo box, within view of the ghost of Cindy’s house. Here’s to you, Cindy Lou. You’ll always be a fond childhood memory.
I’d like to see what kind of talent we have among geocachers. This cache requires something home made to trade. Whether you paint, sew, write poetry, or love music, you can share your love for the arts with us all. Draw a stick man on a piece of paper, if you have to, but remember to trade equally. Put your work in a baggie or a sheet protector, as things get pretty dusty out there. Have some fun with this one, but try your best to “color within the lines” on your donation. So, get out your crayons, finger paint, or needle and thread and create a masterpiece!
