The huge mural on the wall opposite the cache site appears to be
a little-known and recognised piece of urban artwork, despite its
size. Thousands must pass it each day without seeing it. It is
titled “Bomboniere to Barbed Wire”.
That other great artwork, the World Wide Web, was consulted to
find information about it to little avail. From a delapidated board
beside the mural the artists were Eve Glenn and Megan Evans. They
spent two months “talking with and photographing women in the
Northcote/Preston area”. Their intention was to
“represent and celebrate the lives, work, recreation and
cultures of all women in the entire community”.
I will leave it to you to decide whether they have, and would be
happy to post any information that finders may have about this
work.
“Bomboniere” – a greek/italian expression
meaning “sweet favours”
The cache is an eclipse tin hidden via a magnet in a place where
you can easily reach it.
