Geocache Description:

Herbie #1
This cache was initially placed to give participants in the 2003 Cache In - Trash Out Day event a place to start their trash out on the cache-poor side of the lake. It is stocked with a couple of goodies for the first finders, but the primary load in this ammo can is Trash bags! There are some official CITO bags in here, as well as a bunch of 13 gallon bags.

I couldn't make is too easy to find, now, could I? Where's the challenge in that? Here's what you have to do...

Find the 4 numbers on the Stone Marker in the parking area. Add those 4 numbers together. You should get an answer that is greater than three thousand but less than nine thousand. Still with me?

We'll call your answer to that simple addition problem Z.

Here's the tricky math (not really...)
  • Latitude = 598.9114 x Z
  • Longitude = 1525.902 x Z
You should end up with a seven digit number for Latitude and a seven digit number for Longitude. You can throw away any digits you might have right of the decimal point in your answer. These seven digit numbers should look an awful lot like coordinates, especially if you plug them into the standard Ndd° mm.mmm Wdd° mm.mmm format.

You now have the coordinates for the cache. Go get it y'all! ...and pick up some trash on the way out!

The cache will stay in place after the 2003 CITO Day so that everyone can have the opportunity to Trash Out any time of the year.

C'mon! It's not that much of a hike & you could sure use the exercise...
