Spanning west of Lake Tanganyika the hauts plateaux region of Minembwe is dominated by ethnical diversity, being most notably the home of the herdsman tribe of banyamulenge.
Around and above the altitude of 2000 meters, the plains are immense as well as the sense of isolation. Electricity, plumed water and cars are amidst the things sure not to be found anywhere nearby.
Should you find yourself in the center of Mimembwe village you will notice approximately 3 Km to the South an elevation detaching itself from the surrounding terrain, it’s called "Runundu", such as the small village at its base. The cache is a 35 film canister covered with stones, inside the hole you will find in the most elevated point.
The 5 stars given to the terrain derive furthermost from the fact of the region being very poorly served by roads. Actually, it’s next to impossible to get there by car, although a(n impracticable) road going up from Fizi exists. The weekly MONUC helicopter flight there would be your easiest way in, should you be able to take it.
The Runundu hill itself is quite accessible a climb and should not receive more than 3 stars.
