Wilkie's Pools Cache on Mt Egmont, Taranaki
These cascading pools were named after F.W.Wilkie who with Thomas Dawson explored the Kapuni Stream in 1883.
Wilkie’s Pools are about a mile above the beautiful Dawson Falls (850 mts altitude) on the Stratford side of the Mountain.
The track to the Pools has been upgraded and is an easy walk, but be careful if the river is high as you need to boulder hop to cross the lower crossing of the Kapuni stream, but the upper crossing is bridged, when you get to the Pools. Continue up the side of the Pools (not the orange marked track) for about 50m then go on to what is now a little used track. Follow your GPS.
