How Geocaching Works
A 2-stage cache located on the trails at Silver Star Mountain Resort near Vernon, BC.
Stage 1: Please park in the main parking lot and go on foot for the last few metres rather than driving right to the cache, as "Postill Lane" is a private laneway (pedestrian access is OK). No bushwhacking or creek-crossing required. Find the easy way. Bring a pen and paper to jot down the co-ord's for the 2nd stage. This stage is a micro, and although the access is easy, finding it may take some careful looking.
Stage 2: There are several ways of getting to the second cache, and a direct track from Stage 1 will NOT be the easiest way. The cache is found near a trail. Winter: Walk (dress for deep snow), snowshoe, alpine or nordic ski (a pass is needed to ski). Snowshoes can be rented from Valhalla Pure Outfitters in Vernon or in the Village at Silver Star. $12 for a half-day. Alpine and nordic equipment is for rent on the mountain as well. Summer: Hike, mountain bike (no pass required unless you want to use the chairlift), jog, trail run, we've done this with a jogging stroller and 2 kids. Spring or Fall access if there is snow will be more difficult as the trail won't be maintained.
