Los Gatos Little Pictures Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Ullii: Sadly, I'm going to have to archive this cache. I'm not really qualified to update the pictures, since I never actually found them all myself. Thank you for putting this together, spyder woman. A lot of us had fun with this hide, and I'm sorry to see it go.

Geocache Description:

NOTE: The listed coordinates are not the location of the cache. This multi-stage cache idea is borrowed from Kablooey's San Jose Little Pictures cache. The cache coordinates are a good parking spot from which to start your search. This is a sign only cache,so bring your own pen. Re-hide the cache well, and be stealthy, please.

The cache location can be determined by finding and following the images below. This will be at least a three mile walking tour of the town of Los Gatos.

Park your car at the Miles Ave lot (N 37° 13.482 W 121° 58.735), walk uphill to the first picture and follow the pictures until you get to the last picture. At that point, the location of the cache will be revealed. Copy the location information so you can find the cache. Don't take the location information you find there with you. Leave it and the container so that the next Cacher can finish his/her quest.
Feedback indicates that picture 19 is hard to find, so here is a tip: walk approx 300 feet due south from picture 18.
The coordinates of the cache is hidden very near location 43. Just look around, spy EJ1J. and you are done. Leave the cache information in the container for the next finder.

"MOUNTAIN CHARLIE" 1825 - JANUARY 16, 1892 MOST COLORFUL OF ALL CHARACTERS IN SANTA CRUZ MOUNTAINS HISTORY. CHARLES HENRY "MOUNTAIN CHARLIE" McKIERNAN, WAS A NATIVE OF IRELAND AND THE FIRST WHITE SETTLER IN SANTA CRUZ MOUNTAIN SECTION. HE WAS A PIONEER HUNTER, RANCHER, TEAMSTER, AND ROAD BUILDER. HIS MOTTO WAS "RIGHT WRONGS NOBODY". ON MAY 8, 1854, IN THE MOUNTAINS NEARBY LOS GATOS, MOUNTAIN CHARLIE AND A FRIEND NAMED TAYLOR WERE ATTACKED BY A GRIZZLY BEAR. THE BEAR SPRANG FROM A THICKET, BOTH MEN FIRED, BUT THE BEAR GRABBED MOUNTAIN CHARLIE, BITING HIM ON THE HEAD, ARMS AND FACE. A PIECE OF SKULL ABOUT 4 INCHES SQUARE WAS BITTEN FROM OVER CHARLIE'S LEFT EYE AND NOSE BY THE BEAR. A PLATE OF SILVER WAS APPLIED TO THE AREA OF THE MISSING SKULL IN AN EMERGENCY OPERATION BY A SURGEON IN A HOTEL IN LOS GATOS. IN THE ENSUING WEEK, THE PLATE WAS NOT HEALING AND IT WAS REMOVED. ABOUT A YEAR LATER, AN OPERATION TO REMOVE AN ABSCESS UNDER HIS BRAIN RELIEVED HIS INTOLERABLE PAIN. MOUNTAIN CHARLIE WAS MUCH DISFIGURED FROM HIS WOUNDS, BUT HE SURVIVED ANOTHER 38 YEARS. THUS BEGAN THE LEGEND AND FOLKLORE ABOUT THE MAN WITH THE "SILVER SKULL."
