Geocache Description:

The Race is on!

Entries are invited for the South African TB race from Northern KZN to Cape Town.

This is an invitation to enter your TB in a race from Northern KZN to Cape Town during 2005 (1 year).

Only 15 TB's will be allowed to participate, so contact me to get your TB entered.

Attend this breakfast cache (bring and braai) and join fellow geocachers at the start of the race on 09:00 January 1, 2005.

If you cannot attend the event, contact me: I'll supply you with a postal address to mail your TB to. On January 1, 2005, I'll "drop" all participant TB's received into the starting cache: GCM8YC (Amajuba Plateau). TB’s not received by January 1, 2005 will be dropped off in the starting cache on 15 January, 2005 (if the owner entered his TB in the race and mailed it in time).

The object is to get your TB moved by different geocachers to a specific cache in the Cape Town area (the Final Destination Cache: GC15B9 (Table Mountain 2). I'll attach a mission card to each TB entered in the race that reached me on or before the January 1, 2005. Additional mission cards are available upon request.

TB’s can enter the race at any time – the owner is responsible for logging his TB into the starting cache: GCM8YC (Amajuba Plateau).

Entered TB's will be assumed to have read and understood the race rules and accepted by the owner. The minimum prize will be 5 (unactivated) TB dog tags. I'm trying to get sponsors for 2 more prizes (sponsors are also invited to contact me).

The winner will be determined by the lowest number obtained for distance travelled divided by number of caches visited (subject to the race rules).

Things to keep in mind:
Keep your TB's small.
You must be listed as the owner of the TB, a South African registered Geocaching.com member.
TB must be activated on this site (no other trackable items will be allowed to participate in the race).
Logs entered on the Geocaching.com web will be used to determine ranking and progress.
After the race TB's will be released into the wild and not returned to the owner.

Regular updates will be posted in the Groundspeak Forums.

Contact me if you have queries.

Race Rules:

1. Only 15 TB’s will be allowed to enter the race.
2. A Geocacher may only enter 1 TB of which they are the owner.
3. TB’s entering the race stays the property of the owner and only participates in the race, assisted by fellow geocachers.

12. In case two or more TB’s in the top three has the same number given by the formula above, the highest number of unique caches will be used to determine the ranking.
13. In case rule 11 does not yield a unique ranking, the ranking will be determined by the least number of days travelling to the final destination cache.

15. Geocachers picking up TB’s will be requested to only take one TB per visit. Although this rule might be violated, a player will not be penalised (unless rule 14 applies). The geocacher will be notified and requested to drop the TB’s off in different caches.
16. All TB’s entered into the race will have a Tag attached explaining the rules (available upon request from the organiser).

20. Only South African based Geocachers qualify for the prize, although foreign TB’s may participate.
21. TB’s may be disqualified if foul play is suspected.
22. Three prizes will be awarded, which will be communicated through the event cache page. Minimum prize consists of 5 Unactivated TB’s.
23. The owner of a TB entered into the race will be assumed to have read and understood the race rules and accepted by the owner.
24. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
