An unusual puzzle in a tiny, charming, little-known waterfront park, full of poetic and historic perspective.

This is one of Seattle's truly unique 'hidden' parks. Many nearby residents don't even know of it's existence, but it's a great place to enjoy the canal, a particular view of the city, and an amazing amount of historical information artistically built into the park itself.

When you reach the coordinates:
look for THIS SITE and then do your LAUNDRY. For a snack, have a BIG CRACKER at GASWORKS, unless people will think you too ECCENTRIC since your DOG GEAR is made of WOOD. Check the WATER LEVEL from here to PORTAGE BAY, then cross the road to AURORA and look at the WOODEN BRIDGE. Exit the cul-de-sac in order to make your way to the WESTLAKE TRESTLE, then make a long hop to INTERBAY. From INTERBAY, it’s only 5 paces to WOODINVILLE, and, passing WOODINVILLE it won’t be long before you’ll see an APPARITION and hear FROG SONGS. Follow a SUBTERRANEAN PASSAGE to where they CLEANSED THEMSELVES. Understand that TO THEM, this WATER WAS HALLOWED. Be THE FIRST to take two long strides to the center of LAKE UNION. Standing at the center of the lake, walk 10 feet in the direction of THE TRACKS to meet John and Madeline, the keepers of our cache.

Cache Logs
October 25 by Red Blackberries (152 found)
Been to Ivar's a zillion times without ever stumbling across this great little park. On a drizzly Sunday, my six-year-old had fun following the clue trail, watching ducks, balancing on logs, and nearly falling into the real Lake Union while I puzzled over the final cache location.

As other logs have noted, the final "THE TRACKS" description is no longer accurate, but the information about the final should be good enough to find it pretty quick. Great cache, great use of the location! Took a Superball, left an old Korean coin.

I love this cache. There has been some mayntenaunce on the next to last waypoint that has resulted in the world turning. By approximating the offset from the bolt holes I was able to find J&M, who are now vaguely in the direction of Westlake and Queen Anne.

By the way, there was no TB in sight.

What fishiam said! This was a nice little cache and I enjoyed walking the path and finding clues along the way. Plus, I got the nifty STF Bell at the same time. Now I just need to plant it in a new cache...

I finally got around to hunting this cache as I had a pass-the-Seattle FTF bell lunch meeting with crs98 at Ivar's and neither of us had done this one. There was a flotilla of kayaks, paddled by 7 and 8 year olds, beaching at the park as we were deciphering the clues. Plus, a maintenance guy doing manhole cover maintenance, lunch time smokers, and several other muggles all about us. Not to be denied, we finally extracted the cache and found all in tip top shape, including the origianl log (FishSoup FTF!). Just to be sure, I verified that all the folks who've logged my Seattle Blackout Challenge had signed this just to be sure they're all on the up-and up. (They are, of course!). Thanks for the well done midday diversion!

cheers

Very cool cache - definitely one of my favorites. I had no idea that was all there even though I live nearby and I've been to Ivar's several times. Took a squeeze toy and left a TB.

This was my first ever geocache. I found John and Madeline, but no cache. Either it was hidden really well, or it is missing. I'm new to this, so I am not going to guess which one it was. Even though I didn't find a cache, it was still a lot of fun. Definitely something I'll try again.

Have to log this DNF because I saw it was close by and wandered over. Didn't have any of the information with me so was not prepared to find. But this is a cool place so I'll be back, armed with the info to nab.

I hadn't looked too well into the cache description, so when we (I brought a - now infected muggle friend) arrived at the site, I believed the pictures from the description were missing on my paperless device ! So we skipped this one - just to find out back home that everything had been well - doh ...!

Must be some awfully clever students at PSCS!

Soooo well constructed and totally clever use of the surroundings make this a super pleasing riddle and cache.

John and Madeline would be proud...

Was right in the area before, but passed as it seemed like the mileage on this one would be too great. A bump from a friend showed that this one would be feasible and today managed to complete and find with no problems. Cool idea, thanks.

Thanks for the very cool history lesson and the most enjoyable multi. Met the cache guardians and found the treasure. Dropped TB. What a wonderful little park! We were fortunate enough to have sunshine and blue sky today so we paused long enough to really enjoy the location. Thanks for bringing us here!

I remember when this cache was published, and I remember being terribly confused about how I was to find it! It seemed so obscure that I figurerd I would never be able to find it, so I just ignored this cache. A few days ago, though, jcar mentioned that this was one cache he still had not found, so we agreed to meet for this one.

The traffic for jcar was horrible, though, and I arrived in the area for our excursion through the neighborhood before jcar did. Since I was so puzzled about this cache I decided to try to figure it out while I waited for jcar to arrive.

I agree with jcar - this is a well-done cache. Although I used to work close to here, I had never really taken the time to investigate this whole waterfront. I also appreciate the historical information, though I would have preferred a lot more information.

Thanks for the cache!

After we had both completed the cache, jcar and I swapped a few Trackables. Jcar passed me these Travel Bugs...

1. TBHYPC - Kealani2
2. TBYXCC - Pressure Gauge Key Ring
3. TB11HKX - Nuts about Geocaching

... and this Red Jeep...

1. TB1NT6G - "Tatina River (AK)" Red Jeep Travel Bug

In exchange I passed jcar these Geocoins...

1. TB1HM4D - StarGeezer Geocoins
2. TB2BYRJ - Silberschakal's Cache Fever # 1
3. TB2HDEC - Forty-n-Eight's MidMountain Mountaineers Geocoin #9
4. TB2P1K9 - CoreyNJoey's GC&P Club October 2008 - Night Cache Muggler Geocoin

(Find # 1778.)

Some time back grossi recommended this cache to me. I have had the printout in my backpack since shortly after she said this. Today I met NBJ here. He was already on site by the time I arrived and had been working on it already. I started, and was confused for a couple of minutes thinking I was suppose to be doing something else, but finally getting on track. This was quite excellent and well done. Enjoyed how the cache was put together and especially enjoyed the materials used and the historical lesson the park provided. Dropping a couple of trackables that NBJ picked up. Thanks for the excellent cache!

I followed all the clues and took me a few tries to really figure out where I was supposed to end up, but finally found john and madeline. Looked in all the cracks and crannies around them, but never found a cache =\ It was dark, so maybe that's why i couldn't find it, but i did use a flashlight. Will have to stop back by and take a look during the day.

Followed all the clues and searched 10' from "The Lake" with no luck. There were a few holes I wouldn't search without gloves. I suspected another area farther away but the area has definatley been discovered by Ivars take out and was teaming with activity before the Husky football game.

A few weeks ago, my son and I kayaked by this park, which reminded me to check out both the park and the cache. Today, in between a couple of games of Gasworks Scrabble, Team Maccabee and I explored this delightful park. I love how the history and personality of this neighborhood are literally embedded into the features of this park. After finding the cache, we bought dinner next door and kept clam while eating our chowder on the fantastic bench. Thanks so much for highlighting this gem of a park with a multi-cache.

This was a truly lovely way to start our morning of caching. FrodoB said it would be fun and it was. Of course, there was a muggle right at GZ. We tried to search, but it was useless with her watching our every move. We decided to leave and come back at the end of the day - but, just as we were pulling away she gave up and left, so - back we go. Once we had the place to ourselves, it was a quick find.
