About sixteen miles west of Lovelock on Seven Troughs Road. Paved
road and turns off onto a dirt road for two and four wheel drive
vehicles.
Medium container for small items. Contents include star key chain,
P38 can opener, worry stone, and a charm. Small log book and a
shortened pencil is included.
Located about 16 miles west of Lovleock on the Seven Troughs road,
Halfway House was a watering and way station for the horse-drawn
stages carrying goods and passengers to the booming Seven Troughs
District beginning in 1907. It remained intact until the 1940's
when gasoline-powered vehicles began taking over the transportation
needs.
The Seven Troughs Miner reported, "The proprietors have spared no
expense in fitting the place up and it is now modern in every
respect."
Today a cattle grazing area has all but blotted out this historic
spot in twentieth century Pershing County.

August 15, 2009 by find waldo (4564 found) Made a stop at Halfway House on our way back into Lovelock after visiting the Seven Troughs mining district. Sounds like this place was pretty nice in it's heyday. Thanks for the history and the find!

June 28, 2009 by 5francs (222 found) TFTC I hadn't been in this area and really glad I went. I had been to Seven Troughs area from the Limbo side, but never from Lovelock. I didn't realize the Lovelock area had such beautiful country.
