Chirko Park, a part of the Glacial Habitat Restoration area, just
southwest of Oshkosh. 190 acres of trees, grass, and marsh. A nice
easy walk along a trail, and through some knee high grass.
This is a two stage multicache. The first stage is film canister
that is covered in black tape...the final cache is a medium ammo
box also covered in camo tape. The land covers both sides of the
road, but the stages are all located south of the road. Please note
that this land is bordered by private property, please be courteous
and stay on public land. Please use the provided disposable camera
to take a picture of yourself and I will post them when the camera
is full...please notify us if you take the last picture.
Update....On 8-31-09 After doing some maintenance to the cache we
ran into a gentleman on the road as we were heading back to the
truck. His great grandfather used to own this property, and he used
to hunt it. There used to be a farm on the ridge on the west side
of the property. This house never had running water, water for the
house and farm was gathered each day from the stream that runs
through the property. If you want more of a hike head to this area
to check out more of the property, and to see the ponds. These
coordinates will put you directly where the house and buildings
used to stand. N43 53.422 W88 40.336 The property was later sold to
the DNR by the family. They did not want the land divided up, and
wanted it to be enjoyed by others. We can all be appreciative of
that. He also said to the extreme south of the property on private
land grows one of the states largest populations of black cherry
trees. This is rare for the area, especially so many in one small
area, also the fact that they are all perfectly healthy veneer
quality trees. Please wear orange during hunting seasons as this
area seems to be hunted, I did see a few ground blinds while
placing the cache. Notification has been sent to the Wisconsin DNR
