Corporate Ca$he - South Carolina's Pond Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

BriGuyNY: This location around the back side of 1133 used to be so cool. It was a gravel walkway down from the corner of the parking lot to a really pleasant woodland pond, with the golf course visible nearby. At some point in recent years, the pathway was closed and posted signs appeared, along with a low fence to deter people from walking down there. I tried to keep this one active despite the warnings, but since the final is no longer active, this one is joining it in the archives.

10 years ago when I placed this, I was working for Starwood and their IT Department had an overflow office space here, so I would often visit (at least once every quarter) to coordinate their Town Hall before we moved all of our operations to Stamford. It’s a shame that the trail is abandoned, though perhaps one day in the future things will change.

At the moment, the main parking lot of being torn up - Possibly a new building in the works? HSS also seems to be the only occupant now at 1133, with a bigger operation than I remember; a sign of the times.

Container has been removed, and photographed with the fountain one last time. Thanks to all for the logs and memories!

Geocache Description:

This cache is part of the "Corporate Ca$he - Monopoly Challenge!", in which information needs to be obtained from every cache container before being able to surmise the coordinates for the final stash. Each cache is located within an area of White Plains that is a cluster of corporate offices for a wide variety of companies. After being relocated from upstate New York to one of these offices in June 2010, I realized that although I am surrounded by corporate America life every weekday, the back woods still burn strong inside of me. As a result, this series combines the two, and is designed to take you on a journey that shows the corporate world in a different light.

When moving on to the green square properties, green generally means money. Remember, we are geocaching here, so green now means nature... a lot of it. This cache will bring you to a secluded location south of the border. South of the border... wait, doesn't that sound familiar? For the true road warrior on I-95 it sure would ring a bell when it comes time to cross the border between North and South Carolina. Wait, we are talking Monopoly here, not a kooky tourist joint, stop thinking about green and money, it's not about the numbers! How are we getting so mixed up here? Maybe that's because Charles Todd actually mixed up South Carolina Avenue with North Carolina Avenue when printing the Monopoly game board. South/North, Money/Caching... eh, it all sounds the same right? Right! So have a seat, enjoy the pond, and find a cache nearby as well.

Remember to note the $$$ you find under the container lid before you leave, and I hope you enjoy the game.

Congrats on FTF: taxman417
