Geocache Description:

Enjoy the fantastic views of nearby Diamond Lake, Mt. Bailey (elev. 8,375 Ft) and Mt. Thielsen (elev. 9,182 Ft). The cache is handicap accessible and should be an easy find. The difficulty level however will increase depending on the time of year and who else may be around. This area gets lots of use in the warmer months so please be sure to use your best stealth.

This is a nice place to stop and stretch your legs along Highway 138 seven miles west of Crater Lake. The viewpoint offers 24 hour access with restrooms and will accommodate most vehicles. There are picnic table’s located close by with plenty of room for the kids and dogs to explore. Be sure to check out the information boards for interesting facts on the local geology.

Diamond Lake was named for John Diamond, for whom Diamond Peak is also named. He discovered the lake in 1852 while on the summit of Diamond Peak. Diamond was a pioneer settler from Coburg, Oregon who was part of a party that was opening a road between the Middle Fork Willamette River and Idaho as an immigration route.

Congratulations to Altivation on the First To Find!
