Confederate Honor Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

mtn-man: I hate to say it, but I just noticed this cache due to another nearby. I am going to archive it. It is within the NPS Natchez Trace Parkway Park corridor. Caches are not allowed by the National Park Service unless you have permission.

The park boundary is shown on the topozone map linked from the cache page in the map link area.

If you can show you have permission for this cache, and if you can show that the cache has finally been replaced, I can easily unarchive it. If these two criteria are not met, then the cache must stay archived.

NOTE: If you have any questions, do not reply to the archive note email. Click on the link to go to the cache page and click on my name in the archive log at the bottom of the page. You can then send me an email regarding the cache. Please send me a link to the cache in question so I will know which cache it is regarding.

Thanks for your understanding,

Geocache Description:

Confederate Honor is an easy walk and not far from the parking lot.

Thirteen unknown Confederate soldiers who marched and camped along the Old Trace are buried here. According to the history marker, the original grave markers may have borne names, but the markers disappeared. In 1940 Senator Theodore Bilbo (who later became Governor of the State of Mississippi) had head stones placed, which were later stolen. The National Park Service erected the present day head stones. Placed in this cache: War on Iraq DVD, journal, stickers, sewing kit, drill bits, kids wash clothe, dream catcher, tape measure, hand mirror, silly putty, toy car and mini radio.
