At an event
some time ago, I overheard some old cachers talking about a cache
that contained a great treasure of geocoins. In my search for this
cache, I came across a page torn from its logbook.
I've never been really good with puzzles, so I emailed the author
for a hint. What he sent me really didn't help but maybe it will
mean something to you:
"I run
without feet and can roar without a mouth. I am life and death. In
the end, I will reveal the treasure you
seek."
Once again, this adventure is designed as a group effort, but
please limit group size to no more than 4 people in order to limit
impact on the final location. You will also drive a minimum of
100 miles, and I suggest a counter-clockwise pattern.
Hours:
You may visit stage 1 at any time, put please be respectful of
private property, thank them for their cooperation if you see them,
and don't even THINK of climbing on anything!!! Stage 2 and 3 are
available only from 9-3pm on Monday-Friday. Stage 4 may be viewed
Mon-Tue 1-9pm, Wed-Thu 10-9pm, Fri-Sat 10-6pm, Sun 1-5pm.
Terrain rating is for the last 2 stages, which involve
scrambling up a stream bed in places. Access to the final: There is
parking very close, but that will lead to a difficult off-trail
bushwhack through PO. It ends with a drop down a steep embankment
(not too bad, I did it and I'm a whimp on that stuff). At a lower
altitude there is a trailhead that will just require multiple
stream crossings and a longer hike- but no cliffs. That's the entry
I would recommend.
Difficulty is a wild guess. It may be harder if you have not viewed
the source material.
Come prepared:
I suggest you come prepared to view objects clearly at a distance
and quality will be important here. And a camera will be very
helpful.
A hiking pole, coat hanger and some duct tape will be essential in
extending your reach.
And bring LOTS of water... if you are not thirsty by the time you
are done, something else will be.
Special thanks to Veronique (Mrs. Vaudesir) for her contribution to
stage 1!
I've heard
some people speculate I keep a book with hints and clues to all my
puzzles. I can't confirm any such thing, so I assume you would
never search for anything like that.
