Geocache Description:

The third on a trail of ten caches around this interesting area.
See Miners' Trail 10 -The Final (GC1D7AE) for instruction.
The coordinates above are false - the real coordinates can be found in Miners' Trail 2 (GC1D74Q.

This was the scene of frenzied activity as the rock/ore was brought to be crushed and separated ready for the raw ore - galena - to be smelted at one of the many mills to produce lead - so important to life at the time. The pit housed a waterwheel which powered the triphammers and machinery until the advent of steam-driven equipment.


This cache contains the coordinates for Miners' Trail 4 - the Limekiln Quarry and the second part of the coordinates for Miners' Trail 10 - the Final.
