The cache is a Starfrit 'Lock & Lock' container located in the Selwyn Conservation Area.
It has been placed with the permission of the Otonabee Conservation Authority for a six month trial basis. At the end of six months they will evaluate the activity and give us a thumbs up or down for future caches - so let's show them what a great benefit geocaching is to the Areas they are responsible for!
Feb. 26/03 UPDATE: We have been given permission to leave the cache here. The CA has received some very positive comments from visitors and have not had any problems with the cache placement.
Selwyn Conservation Area is open year round and free for day use. There is a large parking lot within the Conservation Area when the gate is open. This area offers a boat launch, picnic area and public beach. Dogs are not permitted in the beach area, but there are lots of areas along the trails where a dog could hop in the lake to cool off. The hiking/cross-country ski trail is approx. a 45 minute loop.
In the off season (Mid-October to Mid-May) people are permitted to park their vehicles by the gate and walk in. This will make the hike a little longer.
