Anacortes Audio Log Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

credenza: The container has fully rotted away, the audio device has long since gone bad, and it is basically just a soggy mess. It was time. This cache was placed right when this area was opened up to hiking and I've had lots of good hikes here. Perhaps a new cache will find its way to replace it.

Geocache Description:

A new audio enhanced cache to initiate the Montomery Duban Headlands Park.

It took the opening of a new park for me to find the perfect spot for this cache. Montgomery Duban Headlands Park is the latest addition to our wonderful parks system here on Fidalgo Island. Parking is the off Rosario Rd. at Sharp Park.

I've tried to make this cache interesting in two respects. 1) All that is in the cache is a small log book and pencil, and a digital audio recorder. If you want, in addition to signing the logbook, you can leave an audio log for your fellow cachers. You can also listen to logs left by cachers before you. 2) I've tried out a new style of cache container. It is not your standard tupperware container or ammo box. Please be careful with the container as it is not indestructible, like most.

Because of the somewhat treacherous terrain within the near vicinity, and to minimize tromping and frustration, I am including a few extra tidbits to help you find the cache. The cache is not far from the trail, 15 ft.(?) east. After the trail takes a rather steep decent, start looking for a skinny, straight cedar. If you find that, you'll be in the vicinity.

Happy Hunting!

UPDATE 10-18: Heading back out to check on things, I found that the major layout of the trails has been somewhat changed, making my original descriptions no longer so helpful. Here is a better one. Just before the trail takes a 90° turn to the left to avoid a steep slope up (with a pretty gnarly tree halfway up), look to the right of the trail near a skinny, straight cedar.

UPDATE 11-4: Updated coords to reflect Half-Canadian's. I've heard they are much much better.
