Scotland Yard has called and requests your help in solving a most peculiar case. A Geocache has gone missing in Central Invercargill. The culprit (who called himself John) left a trail of curly clues. Are you up to the challenge to solve them?
This cache was born out of an idea to do a 'rainy day cache', so even when it's wet out you can still go caching! There are a few times where you will be out in the open, so don't leave home without your jacket! Cache is a 200ml Sistema container and is not visible at any distance. When it was placed it contained a log book, pencil, sharpener and a TB for traveling. I'm not too sure how long it will take to find the cache, hopefully the first few finders can let you know. It is very pushchair and wheelchair friendly. Final cache location is subject to opening hours: Mon-Fri 9am-8pm, Sat 10am-1pm and Sun 1pm-4pm and is generally closed on Public Holidays.
Righto! Below are the clues and coordinates the culprit provided. Go to each waypoint (WP) and answer the question to see if you can discover the location of the cache.
Start with the listed coordinates.
a. The suspect said when he hid the cache, he headed up the street the soldier faced. Which street is that?
1. Clyde Street
2. The Cresent
3. Dee Street
4. Tay Street
Head to S2
b. Look up and you'll find the culprit's name. What city is mentioned below?
5. London
6. Wellington
7. Edinburgh
8. New York
Head to S3
c. Look for the WEA. Whats the date on the building? Add all the digits together until you get to a single digit (eg: 1979 = 1+9+7+9 = 26 = 2+6 = 8).
Head to S4
d. How many times of day are plotted for the Sundial? Take 2 away from that number.
Head to S5
Now look around and you'll see a Coat of Arms. Head over to the warmth that building and take some time to work out through the rest of the clues.
Clue #1 = abd.c
Clue #2 = Urnq hcfgnvef naq hfvat Pyhr Bar lbh jvyy svaq gur pnpur..... vs lbh ner fzneg rabhtu!!!
Good Luck and let us know if you can solve the cache! If you get stuck, one of the staff may be able to help!
