Geocache Description:

MY ORIGINAL COORDINATES WERE CHANGED DUE TO HUMAN INTERFERENCE IN THE CACHE. MY COMMENTS ARE BELOW

You'll be surprised at this area. You expect nothing but forest, but instead find open savanna. Once you come here during the spring and summer, you'll want to show this area to your friends. Everything is in bloom, you'll be astonished. Huge fields of sunflowers in the West Savanna, taller than a basketball player, and a flower I have only found in this preserve, (you'll have to get the cache to find out)
On the animal front, this place is more than alive after dark. Possum, coming down from their holds, mice scurring from log to log to tall fallen grass, a little more relaxed than during daytime, but still trying to find cover.
There's even a fox or two who inhabit this region, (but then that's another story). I have even seen coyotes crossing the roadway, back from a feast either at the nearby trailer homes or the shopping center. But it seems like raccoons seem to infest this area more, probably due to the nearness of food.

This cache was MIA for some time because someone meeded the ammo box mor than we did. I have now reactivated this cache as of 11/20/09 and if your the first to find it, inside is a DVD titled 10,000 Yr. BC
I will have many more caches to follow, each highlighting a specific animal who thrives in this area. Look for my "Bear in the Woods" and my "Coyote" cache.
Please keep on the bridge after you park, ( the bridges are at the north end of the parking lot) it saves on the plant life, and will save you wet feet.

By the way, a sweet place to park is at
41-46.256 / 87 - 51.943

REMEMBER,
HERE YOU ARE THE INTRUDER IN THEIR WORLD.

(By the way, Lillian is my first Grandchild who was born on Nov. 26th, 2004) ENJOY!
